Membership

Standing in the foyer you can’t help but  make sure the reflection in the mirror hasn’t changed in the five seconds since you last gazed into it. “Looking good,” You say to yourself as your best friend’s horn beeps again. Zooming out of the driveway you barely have enough time to buckle up but you don’t mind because you’ve been waiting for this. Your favorite singer is having an intimate concert at the posh new venue downtown. Upon arriving a well appointed valet greets you in front of the red carpet nestled between golden poles. Even more impressive is the immaculate entry point lined on both sides with polished granite columns. The sound of music can be heard as you walk along the marble crossway that separates the two softly lit koi ponds. Unfortunately, the music quickly fades as all you can hear is the doorman in the European cut suit say you can’t come in.   You procured a ticket but not a seat. The concert is for members only. Disappointed but always the good friend, yo...

Peace of Mind

It’s been one of the best workdays you’ve had in a long time. You made every green light on your way to work. As soon as you walked in your boss gave you a big promotion that came with a big corner office and an even bigger salary. Things were going so good that the driver in front of you paid-it-forward in the Chic-fil-a line. Just as your day couldn’t get any better you get a call from the radio station announcing you as the winner of a new car! Of course your boss told you to take the rest of the week off so you rushed home to share all of your good news. “Surprise!” your friends and family shouted the moment you opened the door. Passing a table full of presents you hug all of your guest who are hanging on your every word. The warm glow of birthday candles caress your face as everyone sings happy birthday.   Whoa! Let me stop before I get too caught up. We all know workdays like that are few and far between if ever. Many of us go to jobs that aren’t as satisfying as we’d like, d...

Connect To Love

Do you remember your first crush and I’m not talking about a celebrity crush? I mean the first time you saw your boo on the playground or the bus stop and he/she just made your heart stop. For those whom it may be a little too long ago to recall. H ow about   your first high school crush? Your first real boy/girlfriend that you just knew y’all would be together forever. They were your everything until the next thing came along and stole your heart. Perhaps you were the one at the wrong end of a breakup and ended up heartbroken. Either way, we all go through the ups and downs of relationships in pursuit of the love of our life.   Being that it’s Valentine’s Day your resident love expert (that’s me😁) would like to drop a little love knowledge on you. To all my single friends, before you find your true love     you have to connect to love. The same goes for all of our married couples but that advice applies for how to maintain and grow your love. What do I mean by “con...

Truth Quest?

The phone’s alarm attacks your ears as it blares across the bedroom. You instinctively hit snooze to get that oh-so-good few extra minutes of sleep. Inevitably, the alarm wins and you awake to face another day.   As your eyes regain their focus you notice an ominous shadow on the wall. “Do not be afraid,” says the tall stranger standing at the foot of your bed. “I’ve come to offer you a choice. I hold two pills in my hand. Take the green pill   and you go on believing whatever you want to believe. Take the red pill and the truth about this world will be revealed.” Just as he begins to stretch out his hand you realize you’re in the presence of an angel! Now which pill would you choose? Given that you’re conversing with an angel   the obvious choice is the red pill so why do so many people choose the green one? By now you may be wondering what is this red pill. The red pill symbolizes the Bible but sadly, a lot of people decide not to read it.   They rather believe wha...
