Fed Up

I’m a happy, go lucky, glass half-full kind of guy. My wife tells me I can see the positive in any situation except for when my Dallas Cowboys are losing–    but I digress. Despite my generally positive disposition there are times when I get fed up and need to vent and today is certainly one of those days so if you don’t mind, I’d like to get a few things off my chest. Let me state for the record that my rants will be about the problem not the people for we all need grace. Now with that being said, let me begin. My first issue is with this whole gender identity thing. Despite how anyone wants to label themselves there are only two genders (male and female). You can wear whatever and change any body part you want but you can’t change your DNA. I’m tired of society trying to force me to reject science, common sense and God so people can live a lie.  The same goes for homosexuality. If I see one more movie where they sneak in a homosexual reference, I’m going to lose it...

Good News

I’ve sinned against God. I’ve allowed my selfish desires, my appetite to do the things I know I shouldn’t do come between me and my creator. Unfortunately, from the moment I committed my first sin I became alienated from God. He’s perfect in every way and cannot be in the presence of sin which means I cannot be in His presence. To add to my dilemma, God is eternal so the consequence of my actions is the permanent separation from God, from joy, from peace and love.   When I die I’ll die in my sins and Lucifer wins. On the day of judgement I will be found guilty for the lies, fornicating, idolatry, and all of my other wrongdoings. The author of lies will have yet another soul to join him in eternal damnation. You see I’m not the first to rebel against Jehovah. Satan chose his path long ago and ever since he was cast out of heaven, his only mission is to prowl the earth like a lion enticing all of us to join in his horrible fate. Oh, but if it hadn’t been for God’s love, my destiny wo...

Resurrection Sunday is Almost Here!

Easter is fast approaching and soon churches will be packed with ladies wearing flowery dresses and big brim hats. The fellas will be doing their best to not be outdone and of course the kids will be in their Sunday best. Scattered amongst all of the pigtails adorned with hair bows, pastel dresses, and slick suits will be people who haven’t seen the inside of a church since last Easter. If you’re one of them, don’t worry. I’m not going to go on a rant about God telling us not to forsake the assembling of ourselves (Heb 10:25). Quite the opposite actually, I encourage you to go regardless of how long it’s been.   No matter what you’ve been through or how long you may have gone astray, you’re blessed to be still standing. God is patiently waiting on you to start a meaningful relationship with Him and regularly attending worship services will go a long way in helping you do just that. I know there’s a lot of reasons we don’t consistently attend church butI if we could see the importan...

More Trust = Less Worrying

“Wake up! Wake up!” The heart stopping screams jolt you out of bed as the blare from the fire alarm shatters a tranquil night's sleep. In that moment do you sit in your bed fretting over how the fire started or do you get up and get your family out of the house? The answer is quite obvious. If it was a movie and the guy was just sitting there crying instead of taking action, people would be yelling at the screen. Ironically, many of us face our own problems the same way as the guy in the movie… so focused on our trouble we miss the solution. You see when it comes to facing life’s challenges there are two categories of people: you're either problem oriented or solution oriented. Problem oriented people tend to look at their problems as insurmountable and it overwhelms them. They’re quick to complain and tend to think negatively. We all know someone who’s always coming up with a million reasons why something won't work (hopefully that’s not you). I hate to say it, but if you’...
