New Opportunities

I'm not sure who started this New Year's Resolution thing but it's easy to see why it's so popular. With each new year there's a feeling of starting over, starting fresh. Nice idea but it's a little off. Why? Because rather than being optimistic and hopeful for the new year, we should feel that way every day.


You woke up this morning with an opportunity for a fresh start regardless of what happened yesterday. Absolutely nothing happened yesterday that prevents  you from having a new outlook on today. I know that's a bold statement so to prove my grandiose optimistic proclamation I want you to pick a bad day that you've had. It doesn't matter if it's the day you lost your job or realized you were losing your hair. Maybe you're thinking of when you got your car repossessed, got evicted or got divorced. Perhaps it might be the most tragic of days when a loved one passed. 


Whatever day you choose it doesn't change the fact that today is a new day. Today is an opportunity that you've never had. Today is giving you another shot to get a new job, a new car, a new house. You have another chance to repair broken relationships. If you’re in mourning, today is another opportunity to lean on God for peace and a reminder to live your life for God so that one day you’ll see your loved ones again.


Every new day that God blesses you to see is a day to take a step forward in your life knowing that God– who created all, knows all, and can do all–  is always with you.


Think about it.

Passenger Seat Faith & The Trinity

It was such a beautiful Saturday morning I just had to lean my head out the window and soak in the sun. My wife was driving and I could sense a little envy for what she calls being a passenger prince. I call it no stress driving because for me  there’s no traffic, no red lights   and no pretending I know where we’re going. My attention was on the sun, a good breeze and good vibes. “Another one,” I said to myself while staring at my newest gray hair. “Now I’m matching on all levels,” I sighed as I realized my eyebrows were starting to join the party.
