Making Bitter Sweet

One of my closest friends loves to use the  phrase “call a cat a cat.” He’s a straightforward kind of guy and that phrase is as straightforward as it gets. It means to speak frankly and truthfully about something without sugar coating it even if it’s unpopular or unpleasant for people to hear. Unfortunately, in today’s society if Christians try to speak out about the sinful lifestyles so many people live, they’re called intolerant or judgmental. There’s been such an erosion of morals that this Bible warning couldn’t be more timely: “Doom to you who call evil good and good evil, Who put darkness in place of light and light in place of darkness…” (‭‭Isaiah‬ 5‬:‭20‬ ‭MSG‬‬).

You don’t have to look very hard to find people who take what God says is evil and make it appear good. It’s guy pride month and there are pride parades and celebrations all over the country. Gay pride celebrations?! Let that sink in. People are actually taking pride in openly rebelling against God. They want to fulfill their unnatural desires (Rom1:26,27) and have the audacity to condemn anyone who speaks out against them as being hateful. Being hateful is letting people think God will not punish those who break His commandments.

The LGBT lifestyle isn’t the only evil society now calls good. We’re suppose to believe that sleeping around is somehow a good thing. We know men have always been given a free pass with the “boys will be boys” mentality but at what point will boys become men of God?  TV and movies have degenerated to the point of making people think having multiple sex partners is empowering to women as part of this new age feminism. The truth is that the only one being empowered by a woman sleeping around is the devil. Society has taken away the stigma and the shame of having sex outside of marriage. It’s so acceptable that you’re considered strange if you aren’t doing it. I’m desperately pleading with our young adults to stop willfully ignoring God’s warning that those who do these things deserve to die (‭‭Rom ‭1‬:‭32).

My focus today is on sexual immorality because it’s so pervasive in our society and our young people readily accept it as being normal; when In fact, it’s so egregious that God tells us to run from it! “Flee from sexual immorality. Every other sin a person commits is outside the body, but the sexually immoral person sins against his own body” (‭‭1 Cor 6‬:‭18‬-‭20‬). Both homosexuality and living with your girl/boyfriend are open rebellions against God because they encourage others to sin by showing your total disregard for how God commands us to live (Rom 1:32). The flat out undeniable plain truth is that if you die in your sins, you’re going to hell (1 Cor 6:9). Hopefully you’re not not rolling your eyes like so many people do when they hear statements like that but we’re being frank and straightforward– right? We’re calling a cat a cat.

Think about it.
